Synopsis
In the shadowy underworld of 1920s Edinburgh, a cunning young surgeon must choose between the love of her life and the lure of twisted scientific glory as she becomes entangled in the dangerous black market brain trade. Her ultimate experiment? The man she once vowed to cherish.
Set against the eerie backdrop of 1920s Edinburgh, Daisy’s Amygdala is a gripping, psychological thriller that explores the dark intersections of love, ambition, and madness. Daisy, a seemingly mild-mannered but deeply disturbed surgeon, is locked in a relentless struggle with her father, Albert, a once-brilliant doctor now driven mad by his failures. Together, they delve into the illicit world of experimental brain surgeries, a forbidden practice fueled by the black market’s thirst for human experimentation.
When Thomas, Daisy’s fiancé and a haunted WWI veteran from the renowned Harlem Hellfighters, arrives in Scotland seeking solace, he unwittingly becomes a pawn in this macabre power struggle. Torn between her genuine affection for Thomas and her obsessive need to surpass her father, Daisy uses him as a living experiment, pushing the boundaries of her psychosis and medical prowess.
As the line between love and cruelty blurs, Daisy faces a harrowing decision: will she abandon her quest for dominance, or will she sacrifice the man she loves to claim mastery in a world where only the ruthless survive?
